About us

Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment, ensuring continuity between supporting organisations.

The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It emphasises collaboration to deliver on two place missions: create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish.

‘REACH’ is part of Children Services. It aims to improve the lives of children and their families, particularly where there is harm outside the home, risk of/offending behaviour and risk of entering the care system. The service is just over two years old and offers the opportunity to shape and develop best possible practice within Wigan’s vulnerable adolescent population.
