About Autism Plus

Autism Plus are a leading Yorkshire Charity supporting adults and young people with autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and complex needs.

In 1986 the Charity was created by a group of parents looking for the very best support for their children who were about to leave a specialist school. Once they reached the age of 17, they found there was little or no support. The belief set by our founding parents, to empower more people to live independent, fulfilling lives remains our focus today.

We employ over 350 people across the north of England in care support services, employment support and social enterprise businesses.

About the Role

We are currently looking for a Service Manager to provide leadership and direction to a team of Social Care Support Workers in order to provide innovative and person-centred solutions and person-centred solutions. This role be based at our service in Hull.

Essential Requirements Include
  • Significant experience of supporting people with complex needs including ASD Mental Health and challenging behaviour.
  • Experience of implementing strategies for individuals who express their frustrations and needs through challenging behaviour.
  • People management experience.
  • An interest in people and a commitment to helping others.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with vulnerable people and their families.
  • Good listening skills.
  • An empathetic approach.
  • Driving license and access to a vehicle
Key Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to)
  • Maintain skills and knowledge and ensure that care is delivered according to latest guidelines and best practice evidence available.
  • Ensure the ongoing safety of the people we support, team members/colleagues and visitors.
  • Ensure relationships with the people we support are professional and trusting and promote their self-esteem, happiness and emotional health.
  • Ensure staff encourage and support the people we support in expressing their needs, views and concerns, enabling them to make choices and decisions and to participate as fully as possible in planning and decision-making processes.
  • Always promote Person Centred Planning.
  • Ensuring PBS is part of everyday practice and culture.
  • Ensure clear and accurate records and communication systems relating to clinical and care delivery are maintained and effectively used.
  • Motivate and supervise care colleagues on a day to day basis and through organisation standard formal and informal supervision and observation processes and manage capability where appropriate.
