Service Advisor – Front Desk (HGV & Car Workshop)

Location: Buckingham, MK18 1DR

Salary: £27,000 – £35,000 per annum (DOE)

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (30‑minute lunch)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Overview

We are seeking a proactive and customer‑focused Service Advisor to join our front desk team within our busy HGV and car workshop. This is a fast‑paced, varied role supporting customers, technicians, and the wider service department. Previous experience within the automotive sector (HGV or car) is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Book customer vehicles into the workshop and create accurate job cards.
  • Answer incoming calls and handle customer enquiries professionally.
  • Manage the breakdown line, logging details and raising immediate job cards.
  • Book M.O.T appointments and process customer payments.
  • Provide regular updates to customers regarding the progress of their vehicle.
  • Request purchase order numbers and ensure all documentation is accurately recorded.
  • Scan and process MOT paperwork in line with compliance requirements.
  • File job cards and maintain organised service records.
  • Work closely with technicians and service managers to support workshop efficiency.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Automotive industry experience (HGV or car): minimum 3 years preferred
  • Strong customer service skills with a confident and professional telephone manner.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident using computer systems and service booking software.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to commute to Buckingham (MK18 1DR) or relocate before starting work.
