Job description

Role: Serious Injury File Handler - Grade C

Location: Manchester / Fully Remote (UK)

Salary: £33,280 - £41,600

Contract: Full‑time | Permanent

Start (or accelerate) your Serious Injury career - with real support and progression

CRA Consulting is working in partnership with a nationally recognised Personal Injury practice that is actively investing in the growth of its Serious Injury team.

This role is ideal for a junior Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer, or experienced PI fee earner who wants to build a long‑term career in Serious Injury litigation, working on quality claimant matters, within a structured, supportive environment - and with the flexibility of fully remote working.

The Opportunity

You’ll manage a portfolio of claimant Serious Injury claims, primarily RTA‑based, with values typically up to £50,000.

Crucially, this role is designed as a stepping stone into higher‑value Serious Injury work. You’ll receive close supervision, technical guidance, and structured development, with a clear pathway into Grade B and more complex claims as your experience grows.

This is a genuine entry point into Serious Injury - not a dead‑end role.

What you’ll be doing
  • Managing a caseload of claimant Serious Injury files (up to £50k)
  • Delivering empathetic, high‑quality client care to individuals following life‑changing events
  • Maintaining regular communication and building trusted client relationships
  • Instructing and liaising with medical experts, case managers, care experts, counsel, and other specialists
  • Analysing liability, causation, and quantum
  • Drafting statements, pleadings, and schedules of loss
  • Securing early interim payments and appropriate rehabilitation packages
  • Progressing cases efficiently towards fair and timely settlement
  • Working within a task‑based case management system
  • Managing KPIs and performance objectives with regular supervision and feedback
  • Supporting wider team initiatives, profile‑raising, and departmental development
What they’re looking for
  • Qualified Solicitor or Fellow of CILEX, or equivalent experience at Grade C level
  • Strong commitment to client care and quality work
  • Confident communicator with developing negotiation skills
  • Well‑organised, detail‑focused, and deadline‑driven
  • Comfortable working within a structured, target‑led environment
  • Confident using case management systems, Word, and Excel
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Previous exposure to Personal Injury or Serious Injury claims
  • Clear ambition to progress within Serious Injury litigation
  • Team‑focused, proactive, and resilient approach
  • Interest in developing your professional profile within PI
Salary & Benefits - Why this role stands out
  • £33,280 - £41,600 basic salary
  • Fully remote working (UK‑based)
  • Genuine entry‑level access to Serious Injury litigation
  • Clear, structured progression into Grade B and higher‑value claims
  • Supportive supervision and ongoing technical development
  • Long‑term career opportunities within a specialist Serious Injury environment
