Job description

My client is a rapidly growing 3PL business based in Oxfordshire, and through their continued growth, they have created a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join their team.

The Senior Transport Planner based in Oxfordshire will play a key role within the planning team for an exciting and expanding 3PL business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for optimising the movement of goods, ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing transport strategies, managing daily operations, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

This includes coordinating vehicle and load planning, managing driver and vehicle scheduling, and overseeing the execution of transport plans across multiple sites.

A key component of the role involves managing and coordinating transport planning projects, including the selection, engagement, and oversight of subcontractors. This includes ensuring subcontractors adhere to project requirements, timelines, and quality standards, as well as managing relationships and communication with them.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:

  • Proven experience in engaging, managing, and developing subcontractor relationships to ensure high service standards and long-term operational efficiency.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with tachograph regulations, analysis, and compliance to support legal and safety obligations.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to challenging conventional methods, driving continuous improvement, and enhancing operational processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain agile under pressure, making real-time decisions and adjustments to transport plans to maintain service performance and responsiveness.
