Job description

After another year of Ofsted recognising Motherwell Care as a Good provider of Children s Services, we are proud to announce the launch of a brand-new therapeutic children s home in South East London, opening February 2026.

This is not just another children s home. It is a purpose-built, high-staff-ratio (2:1 or 3:1) therapeutic environment designed to support high-risk children with complex needs and significant trauma histories.

We are seeking passionate, resilient, and therapeutically trained Residential Care Workers to join our team and help shape the future of children s residential care.

About the Role

As a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering day-to-day care and therapeutic support to young people presenting with a range of needs, including:

  • Mental health challenges
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
  • Self-harm, suicidal ideation, and other high-risk behaviours

You will work within trauma-informed frameworks, including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), supporting young people with attachment difficulties, behavioural concerns, and complex trauma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent, compassionate, and therapeutic care in line with individual care plans
  • Use restraint training safely and appropriately to manage high-risk behaviours
  • Administer and record medication in line with policies and procedures
  • Maintain safeguarding standards and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all young people
  • Support children in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and independence
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals (CAMHS, local authorities, safeguarding partners)
  • Contribute to risk assessments, crisis management protocols, and therapeutic interventions
  • Promote a culture of healing, safety, and trust within the home
