About the Role

An experienced Senior Structural Engineer is required to lead the delivery of major structural engineering projects. The successful candidate will take a key technical and managerial role within the project team, working closely with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary colleagues.

This is a permanent, office-based position with flexible working hours and opportunities to contribute to complex, high-impact developments from concept through to completion. It is an excellent opportunity for a chartered engineer seeking to take on greater leadership and technical responsibility.

Responsibilities
Technical
  • Lead structural design for major projects, ensuring deliverables are completed to agreed timelines.
  • Produce and oversee structural calculations, technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and support to project teams.
  • Carry out and supervise design work in accordance with British standards and regulations, and relevant technical standards.
  • Oversee the use of structural engineering software including AutoCAD, Revit, and analysis tools.
  • Conduct site inspections, including BCAR-related inspections and coordination.
  • Undertake self-checking and internal quality reviews of design outputs.
Managerial
  • Lead project teams, ensuring planning, resource management, and coordination of workloads.
  • Mentor, support, and supervise junior engineering staff.
  • Attend project meetings with architects, contractors, and clients to establish requirements and resolve issues.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with all project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project planning, programme delivery, and client liaison.

Requirements
  • Degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership.
  • 710 years structural design experience within the UK construction market.
  • Strong analytical capability and thorough understanding of structural engineering principles and materials (steel, concrete).
  • Proficient in structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ROBOT).
  • Experience designing using the British standards.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and support junior staff.
  • A proactive, solution-driven attitude with a commitment to high-quality service.
Desirable
  • Masters degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Own transport.
