Senior Staff Nurse – Priory Hospital Ty Cwm Rhondda, South Wales. Location: Ty Cwm Rhondda. Contract: Permanent - Part Time (34.5 hours). Department: Nursing. Compensation: £40,672 / year. Application Deadline: 4 October 2025.

Description: Priory Hospital Ty Cwm Rhondda is looking to recruit a Senior Staff Nurse to join the team on our 20 beds, male, 18+. This is a part time role of 34.5 hours. Based in picturesque South Wales, Priory Hospital Ty Cwm Rhondda is a low secure mental health facility offering high quality assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for males with complex mental health needs, serious mental illnesses including treatment-resistant presentations, and behaviour that may challenge.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patient's named nurse. This includes the evaluation and review of these plans, with the patient/Service User, on a frequent basis, that is reflective of their needs.
  • Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary team.
  • Build relationships and effectively communicate and engage with external professionals and stakeholders.
  • Accurately communicate with, observe and engage with patients in order to assess need and evaluate progress.
  • Understand and participate in relevant quality improvement processes and clinical governance supporting the site to achieve high standards of person centred care and regulatory outcomes.
What you'll bring to the role

A qualified Registered Adult Nurse with 6-12 months post-registration experience, holding an active NMC registration and having completed a preceptorship or equivalent programme. The candidate demonstrates knowledge of NMC standards, guidelines, requirements, and professional practices, supported by evidence of ongoing continuing professional development. They show a positive attitude with a strong commitment to change, improvement, and quality, and are able to apply flexible and innovative approaches to practice. With excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as being IT literate, they also bring 6-12 months of post-registration experience within Mental Health or Learning Disability Nursing, underpinned by further professional development in the field.
