About You

You will be an experienced Senior Engineer, with strong focus on Golang as your primary software development language, or a polyglot approach to engineering with recent exposure to Go. You will have a track record of creating, deploying and supporting complex software which interfaces with larger systems. You will be comfortable taking technical ownership of a large project, working closely with stakeholders to deliver on requirements, and communicating with both technical and non technical colleagues.

You will also be familiar with managing both software and infrastructure deployment in a cloud environment, understanding the interface between cloud infrastructure and software platforms. You will have a good understanding of how to deploy both cloud infrastructure and distributed software systems across multiple providers and geographical areas. You will understand the importance of monitoring and how to build for reliability and scalability. InfoSum prioritises aptitude over knowledge, however the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience solving complex problems with the types of systems described.

Core Responsibilities

• Software Development: Design and implement scalable, high-availability software to support the deployment of InfoSum’s products and services across multiple cloud providers and geographies. These tools will integrate with existing in-house software and industry standard deployment systems such as Concourse and Helm.
• System Automation: Develop and maintain automation and tools to streamline processes related to the development of software within InfoSum. This automation will help improve productivity and deployment efficiency.
• Infrastructure Design and Implementation: assist or lead in the design, deployment, of the infrastructure components required to support our applications and services. This includes managed cloud infrastructure, networking, security, data storage and cloud hosted services.
• Monitoring and Alerting: Implement monitoring solutions to track the health, performance, and availability of infrastructure components and applications. Configure alerting mechanisms to notify teams of potential issues and proactively address them before they impact users.
• Security and Compliance: Implement security controls and monitoring to ensure that our internal tooling complies with security best practices and keeps InfoSum's development systems secure.
• Capacity Planning and Scaling: Monitor resource utilization trends and prepare the systems that are developed to handle the predicted changes in the future.
• Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations, procedures, and best practices. Share knowledge and expertise with team members through documentation, training sessions, and mentorship to foster a culture of learning and collaboration.
• Proficiency in software development in Go (golang). Experience with Python would also be an advantage.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with SQL, ideally RDS and Postgres. Experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake or Databricks would be a bonus.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security principles.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (git, Concourse, Helm) and practices.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, AWS Cloudwatch) for infrastructure and application monitoring.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-Infrastructure stakeholders.
