Now Hiring: Senior Software Engineer – Scientific Instrumentation (Bournemouth, UK – Majority onsite)

We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our innovative R&D team building desktop software that powers cutting-edge scientific instruments used in biotechnology and cell line development.

This role sits at the intersection of software, hardware, and science — perfect for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and making a real-world impact. Hence the requirement to be able to work across the stack.

Location: Bournemouth, UK (majority onsite with Hybrid flexibility)

Tech Stack:

  • .NET (C#), WPF, MVVM
  • Multithreading / Async Programming
  • Web Services, MS SQL
  • Azure DevOps, Git, JIRA
  • Interfacing protocols and Image Capture, Device Control (USB, RS485, RS232, USB, GigE, etc.)
  • CI/CD, Automated Testing, Installer Tools (WIX/NSIS)
Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical implementation leader on a core desktop platform used globally by scientists and engineers
  • Bridge the gap between early-stage research and production-grade software
  • Influence application workflow design, software direction, and cross-team architectural decisions
  • Lead the successful transition of feasibility prototypes into scalable, maintainable codebases
  • Collaborate daily with R&D, Systems, and Hardware teams to deliver fully integrated product solutions
  • Work in an Agile SCRUM environment with modern tools and processes
