Overview

Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in Neuro-musculoskeletal and Orthopaedic Paediatric care at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Lead and champion a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, safe and effective care for Children and Young People in a 27 bedded ward with specialities including spinal deformity, spinal injury rehabilitation, sarcoma, metabolic bone diseases, and upper and lower limb reconstruction. The role supports service development and improvement, leadership development, and aligns with the NHS Compassion in Practice framework.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and act as a positive role model to their team, creating a constructive work environment and positive staff experiences.
  • Serve as expert practitioner in the nursing care of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions to ensure high-quality nursing care for children, young people and families.
  • Ensure responsiveness to care and maintain a positive experience for children, young people and families.
  • Maintain safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
  • Promote a can-do attitude for continual improvement of care through quality improvement initiatives, research and evidence-based practice.
  • Undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Matron and Associate Chief Nurse for Children and Young People.
  • Familiar with, adopt and lead the team with the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for Compassion in Practice.

This role is part of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality care to Children, Young People and their families in a 27 bedded ward. Specialities include surgery for spinal deformity, spinal injury rehabilitation, sarcoma, metabolic bone diseases, and upper and lower limb reconstruction. The successful candidate will be supported by senior nursing leadership and will have opportunities for leadership development through formal and informal education, networking, coaching and mentoring.
