Job description
Overview

Band 8 Senior Psychologist based at HMP Northumberland. NE&Y psychology team provide a psychology service to HMP Northumberland, privately managed prison. The post holder will be involved in the oversight of psychology provision to Northumberland, and monitoring and supporting delivery of agreed services. This will require good working relationships with the Northumberland senior leadership team. The post holder will also be integrated within the wider NE&Y psychology team, with a diverse range of opportunities available, including supporting the development of trainee psychologists, assessment, intervention, training, research and consultancy tasks. Work may be allocated in other prisons across NE&Y and the community. Hybrid working will be supported.

Responsibilities

Assess and supervise trainee psychologists and clinical staff, deliver effective treatment and best practice models, contribute to research and consultancy tasks, support the development of the NE&Y psychology team, and maintain positive relationships with senior leadership and wider NE&Y psychology teams.

Qualifications
  • HCPC registered Forensic Psychologist
  • Professional background in Psychology
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision
  • Completed relevant training in effective models of treatment and best practice
  • Likely also a Chartered Psychologist and Full member of the appropriate BPS division if the post requires it
  • Two years post registration experience at the point of taking up post

Security Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check. People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard checks.
