Exciting opportunity for a Qualified Mammographer.
We would like to hear from self‑motivated, enthusiastic Mammographers who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work within our busy Breast Imaging Service. Candidates must hold a PG Cert in Mammography Practice.
The successful applicant will be reliable, friendly, hardworking, with excellent organisational and communication skills. The ability to integrate well with the existing team and a genuine desire to contribute to service development and quality improvement is essential. Excellent concentration skills and attention to detail with the ability to empathise with and understand client/patient needs.
Southend Breast Imaging is committed to providing high quality care for all clients/patients attending for Breast Imaging. Imaging is undertaken for South Essex Breast Screening and Symptomatic Services, delivered at the base site at Southend Hospital, and at our three mobile screening vans in the community.
The service fully supports skill mix, with Consultant, Advanced, Enhanced and Assistant/Associate Practitioners. We are a progressive service and are supportive and actively promote continued professional development.
Please note, in the UK the mammographer role is currently only open to female candidates.
The role of a Mammographer is to provide and maintain a high standard of mammography for all patients and clients attending for breast imaging.
To work alongside Enhanced and Advanced Practitioners in interventional procedures assisting in core biopsies, VABs and localisations.
To undertake daily, weekly and monthly quality control tests in line with the department's quality assurance programme and report any equipment malfunction or image deterioration promptly.
Regular self‑assessment and peer review of performance associated with service audit is integral to the role as is continual professional development (CPD).
Perform all mammography examinations to the highest standard with precision and speed in line with the NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) guidelines, and ensure that the client/patient episode is documented and carried out in accordance with departmental protocol.
Use relevant knowledge, clinical experience, and departmental protocols to select the appropriate mammographic projections and exposures to ensure optimum diagnostic imaging.
