Job description
Overview

We're recruiting on behalf of a £100M engineering group with 18 autonomous business units spanning rotating machinery, electrical contracting, and utilities. This is a strategic, hands-on opportunity for a commercially minded professional to lead and embed best practice across a diverse and growing organisation.

The Role

As Senior QS / Commercial Manager, you'll be the group's go-to expert for interpreting contracts, reducing risk, and embedding commercial discipline. You'll work closely with business unit leaders to:

  • Advise on contract interpretation and commercial decision-making
  • Identify and mitigate risk exposure
  • Develop and implement commercial processes
  • Coach teams to improve strategic thinking and commercial awareness

This is not a traditional QS role—it's focused on influence, education, and improvement, not pricing or valuations.

What We're Looking For
  • Strong understanding of contract law and commercial risk
  • Background in construction, engineering, or consultancy
  • Clear, pragmatic communicator with strategic insight
  • Comfortable working autonomously across varied teams and disciplines
  • Ideal candidates may come from a Quantity Surveying, claims consultancy, or legal background.
Package Includes
  • Grade B car (£640 allowance / £535 lease)
  • Up to 10% annual bonus
  • BUPA healthcare
  • Gym membership
  • 25 days holiday
  • Pension scheme (4% / 6% / 8%)
