About the Role

Our client, a well-established civil engineering contractor with over five decades of operational excellence, is seeking a highly capable Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. The business is renowned for delivering large-scale earthworks, quarrying, highways, infrastructure and plant-supported construction projects throughout the South West and UK.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of major projects from tender through to final account. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected, long-standing contractor with strong order books, modern plant resources, and a reputation for stability and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial aspects of civil engineering and earthworks projects from procurement to final account
  • Prepare, negotiate and agree subcontract and client valuations
  • Undertake cost control, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Assess, value and negotiate variations and compensation events
  • Support project teams with commercial advice and risk management
  • Manage subcontract procurement, payments and contract administration
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and company procedures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS within civil engineering
  • Strong expertise in NEC and / or JCT forms of contract
  • Background in earthworks, infrastructure, highways, or heavy civil engineering advantageous
  • Excellent numeracy, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple live projects
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline preferred
  • Full UK driving licence
