Overview

Senior Public Health Campaigns and Partnerships Strategist – Westminster Public Health Team. You will oversee the design, development and implementation of the council’s communication strategy for health campaigns, programmes and projects, providing coordination, stakeholder management and specialist advice to deliver objectives and priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage effective partnerships with external groups and organisations; identify interventions, channels and tools to engage audiences, influence perceptions and change behaviour.
  • Coordinate communications activities, lead complex communications systems, draft press releases and liaise with press offices; use a range of communication tools including digital and social media to deliver messages and content.
  • Provide specialist communication-based expertise to colleagues and senior management on risk identification and response to issues; support informed decision making and issue resolution.
  • Supervise and lead small teams, develop colleagues, model council values and promote equity and diversity policies in day-to-day work.
  • Collaborate with partners and delivery partners to achieve outputs; identify synergies between public health priorities and corporate aims.
  • Manage fast-paced workload with excellent organisational and planning abilities; work in a political environment with diplomatic skills.
  • Initiate changes, challenge, coach and advise service and line managers on policy plan delivery and objectives.
Qualifications
  • Experience leading and implementing communications and press activities; ability to establish and manage complex communications systems, draft press releases and liaise with press offices.
  • Strong diplomatic, organisational and planning skills; practical knowledge of the health and local government system.
  • Experience managing delivery partners and sustaining productive partnerships; proficient in using digital and social media to deliver content and website materials.
  • Up-to-date understanding of the Public Health system; experience in leading, motivating and inspiring staff; ability to initiate change and to challenge, coach and advise managers on policy delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; multi-tasking project management with ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in communications/marketing and health promotion or relevant equivalent experience; commitment to keeping up to speed with best practice in communications and programme management.
