A Tech4Good organization in Godalming is looking for a Senior Product Designer to take full ownership of product design. This role is ideal for someone who wants to shape a design culture from scratch and make a real impact on society. The successful candidate will have significant UX and UI experience, with strong strategic thinking skills and a collaborative mindset. The position offers a hybrid working model with travel to the Surrey office once a week.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a Senior or Lead Product Designer role.
• Proven background as either the sole designer or an early hire into a design function.
• Strong UX skills, with solid UI skills to match.
• High levels of autonomy & proactivity, but collaborative with cross-functional colleagues.
• Full UK driving licence (highly preferable).

Overview

Senior Product Designer | UX & UI | Salary £65-75k | Hybrid (Surrey once a week + client visits across Southern England)

Would you like to be the very first Product Designer at a Tech4Good organisation whose products impact the daily lives of people across the entire UK?

I'm working with a small but long-established organisation (20 years strong!) who provide invaluable services to councils across the country. They're now expanding their tech product range, and this hire will be the first of several as they establish their product & design function.

This is a unique opportunity to step in as the sole designer, shaping the design culture from scratch. You'll take full ownership of product design end-to-end; from conducting in-depth user research to building out a design system that underpins a suite of new products.

You'll be embedded in cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with engineering and product colleagues, but also expected to operate with high levels of autonomy and proactivity.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of product design end-to-end, including user research, UX, UI, and building a design system for a suite of new products.
• Work within cross-functional teams with engineering and product colleagues while maintaining high levels of autonomy and proactivity.
• Shape the design culture from scratch as the sole designer, contributing to strategy and delivery.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure products meet user needs and business goals.

Qualifications

• Strategic thinking while remaining hands-on with delivery
• Background in a small, growing team (ideally product-side)
• Experience in B2B environments (B2C also considered)
• High levels of autonomy & proactivity, but collaborative with cross-functional colleagues
• Full UK driving licence (highly preferable as the role involves travel to clients across Southern England)
• Happy to travel to the Surrey office once a week
