Description

ITV News is seeking a Senior Producer to work within our award-winning Investigations and Special Projects Unit. It is a full-time, 6 month maternity cover contract based at ITN's London office. This is an exciting role focused on creating and delivering investigations and original journalism, with an emphasis on building up projects of distinction. The position is working with ITV News' Investigations Editor, Head of Investigations, and the wider ITV News original journalism team. We are looking for someone with experience of delivering exclusive, impactful journalism, who has a multitude of ideas and will stay ahead of the curve and break stories. The successful candidate should also have a strong understanding of how to deliver for digital, social, and streaming platforms as well.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Investigations Editor and Head of Investigationsto pitch,develop and deliver original and exclusive stories
  • Skilfully cultivate relationships withkey contributors including interviewees and sensitive sources.
  • Organise and produce on film shoots
  • Conceive and direct creative visual treatments for pieces.
  • The ability to be multi-skilled and work across input, output and digital platforms
  • Passionate about original journalism with clear examples of distinctive stories they have originated
  • Knowledge and experience of investigative journalism tools and ;OSINT and data journalism
  • Enthusiastic about delivering creative, fresh approaches to newsgathering and embracing new technologies
  • Pitch and deliver coverage ideas that have real impact and that show a deep understanding of the ITV News audience
  • Develop stories for digital, social, and streaming audiences as well as television viewers, bringing inventive treatments to our digital platforms
  • Can cover breaking news and travel at short notice when required
  • Able to juggle competing demands and deliver under pressure
  • Can occasionally be moved off-brief to cover breaking news events

Key Requirements
  • Experience of delivering exclusive stories and working on long-term investigations
  • A strong understanding of ITV News audiences across allplatforms
  • Strong investigative journalism skills and ability to use a wide range oftechniques, from on-location research, to OSINT, to data journalism
  • A good understanding of all news technologies used in the field and eagerness to embrace new technologies
  • A good understanding of news priorities and an ability to turn that into polished television for national news - including constructing packages from an input and output perspective
  • A commitment to creating news coverage that reflects the diversity of Britain’s communities
  • High-quality news judgement and the initiative to work independently or as part of a team
  • Calm under pressure in all environments, and able to adapt to a changing situation
  • Capable of working to tight deadlines
  • A creative and innovative approach to stories and newsgathering
  • Strong background and awareness of digital and non linear platforms and audiences
  • Understanding of the need to be flexible on working times and hours
  • Thorough understanding of legal and ethical issues surrounding broadcast journalism and knowledge of Ofcom guidelines
