Overview

The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust is looking to recruit a Senior Procurement Officer (e-Procurement) to join the existing procurement team. We are seeking a pro-active, self-motivated and ambitious individual with a positive, proactive and committed approach, capable of analysing, innovating, motivating and managing a busy and changing workload against tight deadlines.

You will act as the lead for the operational e-procurement activities of the Trust, managing and leading the operational procurement team. You will be required to have an excellent understanding of the e-procurement and ordering systems in use at the Trust, with a focus on continually optimising e-procurement procedures and systems. You will work closely with end user requisitioners, approvers and the finance team to ensure best use of the systems and processes in place.

You should be a natural team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and team management skills to ensure positive and effective management of the operational procurement team.

You will act as a lead expert in procurement and supply, providing professional advice to internal and external customers to the Trust. You will play a key role in the effective delivery of a portfolio of goods and services across a wide range of categories, both clinical and non-clinical, following best practice tools and techniques to achieve contract compliance, cost reductions and savings whilst ensuring continuous improvement in quality.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the operational e-procurement activities of the Trust and manage the operational procurement team.
  • Maintain an excellent understanding of the e-procurement and ordering systems in use, and continually optimise procedures and systems.
  • Collaborate with end user requisitioners, approvers and the finance team to ensure best use of systems and processes.
  • Provide professional procurement advice to internal and external customers and support the delivery of goods and services across clinical and non-clinical categories.
  • Apply best practice tools and techniques to achieve contract compliance, cost reductions and savings, with a focus on continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
  • CIPS qualification or working towards the qualification.
  • At least 3 years procurement experience.
  • Good understanding of current procurement guidance and legislation (including Public Procurement Regulations).
Working Arrangements

The role requires working from Ladybridge Hall, Bolton and from home, with flexibility to meet the demands of the role and department. The policy is flexible and will be discussed at interview. Free on-site parking is available at Ladybridge Hall.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport. Our staff provide life-saving care and transport to hospital or a place of care when needed. We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those who require it and are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need. We work with other emergency services to ensure public safety and treatment in major incidents, and deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West (NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013). The service is available 24/7.
