This opportunity is for an experienced Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer based in one of our Leeds, Sheffield or Newcastle offices. The candidate will require strong technical and management credentials and be able to lead projects and support our portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects in the UK and internationally.

Your purpose
  • You will be a chartered geotechnical engineer with a proven track record in technical leadership and project management.
  • The role includes mentoring junior geotechnical engineers; strong communication skills are essential.
  • We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in Design and Build environments.
  • You should have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a postgraduate qualification in geotechnics and hold chartered status as either a civil engineer or geologist.
  • You should have the drive and ability to help develop and expand our infrastructure or energy geotechnics capability across a broad spectrum of sectors.
What you can bring
  • A good academic background with a degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).
  • Chartered status and experience in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
  • Project management experience, including client relationships, work planning and commercial management.
  • Proven geotechnical design experience and numerical/analytical capabilities for structures, foundations, slopes and anchors using appropriate tools and workflows (e.g., GeoStudio, Repute, Wallap).
  • Digital geotechnical engineering capability, including the application of AI and machine learning in geotechnical design.
  • Application of CDM Regulations in a design and ground investigation environment. Excellent interpersonal and technical skills with the ability to lead geotechnical design teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with clients to support effective work-winning delivery.
  • Strong commercial track record in negotiating and delivering projects on a right-first-time basis. Strong report writing and self-checking abilities.
  • Willingness to travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas. A valid UK driving license.
