A fantastic and unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist who has a passion for work with Older Adults to join our friendly, supportive and psychologically minded Older Persons Integrated Mental Health Team in Ormskirk, West Lancashire.

Applications are welcome from experienced 8a clinical psychologists who wish to develop their clinical leadership skills via a robust development plan. Progression to the 8b role is determined by the completion of an agreed set of competencies not time in post.

We are looking for someone committed to multi-disciplinary team working who can provide professional and clinical leadership to our psychology and non-psychology colleagues.

The postholder will work from a Consultation model and ensure that the team has access to psychological opinion, support and intervention. Alongside consultation, the postholder will also deliver direct and indirect clinical work; supervise non/psychology colleagues, provide teaching/training, lead complex case discussions, conduct reflective practice/formulation sessions and support psychological well-being within the team.

Main duties of the job

Once progress has been made to the 8b level; the post holder will also become the lead for the complex care consultancy forum (CCCF) for West Lancs.

The 8b role also requires the postholder to deputise for the 8c on occasion.

The post is professionally attached to the locality older adult psychology team and wider network, both of which offer a friendly and supportive space, with a strong commitment to providing quality services for older people in Lancashire.

The Trust is also committed to staff development and have invested in on-going training and development opportunities including funding recent further therapy training and leadership courses.

The postholder would receive regular clinical and professional supervision from the 8C Older Adult Locality Lead Clinical Psychologist.

There are also Older Adult 8a and 8b peer supervision groups that the post holder would be expected to attend.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that the postholder has significant experience of working with the Older Adult population.

Although not essential, it is also desirable that the post holder has additional qualifications/skills or be willing to complete training in specific psychological interventions, for example, EMDR, compassion-focused therapy; ACT, trauma focused work etc
