Job description
Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist to join the Powys Living Well Service. The service works with people who have persistent pain, chronic fatigue and/or significant weight management issues. The successful candidate will work as a core part of a well-established multidisciplinary team providing self-management support and interventions to this population of people, supervision will be provided by an experienced Practitioner Psychologist. The Psychology provision into the team is highly valued and respected, being seen as integral to achieving successful service user outcomes.

This opportunity is open to trainee Psychologists coming up to HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist and other Psychologists seeking a Band 7 or 8a position - the successful candidate will be appointed at the level dependent on their experience. This opportunity is also available on a preceptorship arrangement from B7-B8a and as such, development opportunities are supported for the successful Psychologist to progress on the 7/8a preceptorship pathway.

The post is full-time, however part-time hours will be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Provide an assessment, formulation and psychological intervention service to this group of people as a core staff member integrated within the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Deliver supervision and training, offering advice and consultation on service users\' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team\'s policies and procedures.
  • Undertake research, audit and service development as an integral part of service delivery.
  • Promote, both within group and individualised settings, the employment of psychological strategies to enhance self-management; work with service users who may present with behaviours that may be deemed challenging, across all sectors of care and who may have complex psychological, social and emotional difficulties.
  • Contribute to teaching, training and supervision of other staff within the Health Board regarding all psychological perspectives of long-term condition management.
  • Participate in strategic planning to aid further development of the Powys Living Well Service within Powys Teaching Health Board.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Open to trainees approaching HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist and to Psychologists seeking a Band 7 or 8a position; appointment level dependent on experience.
  • Band 8a Annex 21: to undertake a 12-month training programme to obtain relevant professional body training, complete competencies and experience to meet the Band 8a Senior Practitioner Psychologist in Long Term Conditions management role and all duties as indicated in this job description.
  • Ability to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary framework and to engage in supervision, teaching and service development.
