Service Care Legal are recruiting on behalf of a London-based local authority who are seeking a Senior Planning Solicitor on a temporary basis. Please find below further details about this role.

ROLE: Senior Planning Solicitor

RATE: £55–£60 per hour (Umbrella) / £52.81ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £47.12ph PAYE exc. holiday pay

LOCATION: West London (Hybrid – 2 days pw in office)

CONTRACT: 3 months with possibility of extension, 36 hours per week

Key Duties
  • Advise on major planning applications and urban regeneration projects
  • Provide legal advice on CPOs, appropriation, and property matters
  • Draft and negotiate complex planning and highways agreements (including s106)
  • Attend and advise at Planning Committee and Licensing hearings
  • Manage high-profile matters including appeals, public inquiries, and judicial reviews
  • Support senior leadership and advise on legal risk and Monitoring Officer duties
  • Instruct Counsel and external solicitors as required
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or CILEX (England & Wales)
  • Strong local authority experience in Planning and Regeneration law
  • Proven ability to handle complex, high-value matters independently
