Job description
Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and qualified Radiographer to join our dynamic, friendly team, to play a key role in maintaining and improving standards and quality of patient services. It is an exciting time to join our team, with a wide scale equipment replacement program in progress across the Trust. The post is based at the Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital, Oxford Road site and includes training if required and rotation through general X-ray, theatre and mobile imaging, fluoroscopy, CT/MR as necessary. The post holder will adhere to good practices of radiographic technique and abide by the acknowledged safe practices of radiation protection standards and trust procedure guidance. They will provide high quality radiographic images that will assist in patient diagnosis, treatment and management of care.

MFT is a busy teaching hospital and Major Trauma center with around 145,000 patients visiting our Emergency department each year. The Radiology department is evolving and offers the chance to develop skills in general radiography with rotation into CT & MRI and opportunities to progress into specialist areas.

Main duties of the job
  • Have a BSc Radiography/ DCR
  • Be HCPC Registered
  • Have Excellent communication skills
  • Be organized and able to prioritize workload
  • Be flexible
  • Operate as a senior member of the Radiology multi-disciplinary team, working independently to provide an efficient and high-quality imaging service, while managing patient priority in a caring professional manner
  • Encourage high professional and technical standards in staff using personal example and constructive supervision
  • Ensure junior and rotational staff, including students, are trained, mentored and monitored to prevent untoward incidents and ensure formal learning
  • Maintain commitment to professional development and keep a CPD portfolio up to date; participate in Governance activities such as Risk Management, Health and Safety and Audit
  • Receive a comprehensive induction and training in all areas
  • Receive annual appraisals
  • Receive enhanced remuneration for night duties
  • Full rotation into CT with IV skills as necessary
  • Rotation into MR if needed

You will need to attend in person for interview due to practical/presentation element.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC registration

Experience and knowledge (essential)

  • Post graduate Radiography experience
  • Post Graduate Knowledge in Paediatric Radiography
  • Knowledge of Radiation protection
  • Use of RIS / PACS system
  • Experience of an Interventional service

Desirable

  • Evidence of post qualification experience of working with children and young people
