Senior Oracle Developer (PL / SQL)
About the Role
Working Model
Onsite 5 days per week during probation
Hybrid working after probation : 3 days per week in the office
Key Responsibilities
- Rapidly gain in‑depth technical knowledge of existing applications and the wider technical environment
- Become a system expert through hands‑on development, investigation, and collaboration with experienced colleagues
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Oracle SQL and PL / SQL code within large‑scale information systems
- Proactively investigate production issues and implement robust, long‑term fixes
- Deliver new features and changes in line with agreed timescales, risks, and quality standards
- Work closely with design, testing, and operational teams throughout the software development lifecycle
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and third‑party partners on technical matters
- Identify and manage development risks in collaboration with the wider delivery and management teams
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers
- This role requires genuine, hands‑on PL / SQL development expertise. Candidates must have strong experience building and maintaining core business logic in PL / SQL—not simply using it as a migration or data‑movement tool.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 10+ years’ experience programming with Oracle SQL and PL / SQL in large‑scale, enterprise environments
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, efficient, and maintainable PL / SQL code to a high standard
- Strong understanding of configuration management and issue‑tracking systems
- Degree in Maths, Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
- Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to HTML, JavaScript, Java, and JSON
- Experience with travel reservations, tour operating, or booking systems
- Appreciation or experience of software and systems testing
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies where required
