A prominent healthcare provider in Greater London is seeking a part-time Senior Optometrist to engage in diverse clinical roles within ophthalmology and optometry. Job description

An exciting vacancy has become available for a part-time role as Senior Optometrist which involves working within the core contact lens and paediatric clinic as well as extended role Opthalmology clinics including Eye Casualty and Post Op Cataract at Whipps Cross. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Optometrist or Contact Lens Practitioner to join our teams for this contract.

Main duties of the job

? To participate in the delivery of the optical services and ophthalmology services

? To participate in extended role clinics e.g. medical retina, injection, oculo-plastics, cataract, glaucoma and emergency eye services

? To participate in core optometry clinics e.g. paeds and adult refraction, low vision and contact lens clinics

? To participate in the delivery of highly specialist ophthalmic services and extended roles that meet the changing needs of the department

? To participate in research and clinical audit as required by the WXUH Ophthalmology service

? The post-holder will be required to work autonomously and make clinical decisions using his/her own initiative as well as liaising with the Supervising Consultant Ophthalmologist/s

  • Ability to offer super-user status on at least one aspect of specialist optometric instrumentation and/or to undertake extended clinical role

  • Ability to analyse and prioritise complex medical information to help devise appropriate specialize care plans
  • Knowledge of MS Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook)

Qualifications
  • Registration with the General Optical Council (GOC)
  • BSc(Hons)Ophthalmic Optics or Optometry (2i or above), completion of 12-month clinical postgraduate training post and achievement of all General Optical Council competencies as assessed by the College of Optometrists
  • MOptom (master of Optometry) specialist optometry degree, achieving all General Optical Council competencies
  • Further postgraduate Optometric qualification relating to highly specialist aspects of clinical and technical expertise (taught course)
Other
  • Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations
