Job description

One of our leading NHS clients is looking for experienced Senior mental health nurse Practitioner to cover the shifts at the hospitals in Midlands. We are seeking applications from Registered Senior Mental Health Nurses who have experience of working in mental health services.

Description

The post holder will be a member of the Multi-disciplinary Team and will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment, treatment and management of a defined caseload. Where appropriate, they will be required to liaise with other local agencies including Tier 4 inpatient and specialist centers, as well as the Mental Health Liaison Team and the home treatment team.

Provide specialist interventions for referred people within a therapeutic framework, both individually, with families and in groups. Also providing advice and support for other professionals as required.

Ensure that all case records are maintained accurately, legibly and contemporaneously and that all information acquired while carrying out their duties is treated in the strictest confidence but is shared with all professional colleagues in line with information sharing policy / protocol.

Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health)
  • Ability to take charge of a ward / case load regularly
  • Good knowledge of recognised disorders and illnesses in the field of mental health
  • Use of therapeutic interventions with children and young people i.e. 1 : 1, counselling, family therapy and group work.
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to use initiative / Able to positively influence others.
  • Basic IT skills, normally obtained through practice or practical training.
