Job Title : Senior Mechanical Estimator

Location : Maidstone, Kent

Salary : £70K per year

The Role
  • As a Mechanical Estimator, you will take ownership of all mechanical estimating activities across the business and play a pivotal role in shaping a modern estimating function.
  • Lead mechanical estimating for projects from small works to multi-million-pound packages.
  • Conduct detailed take-offs, cost analysis, and tender submissions using drawings, specifications, and site information.
  • Review and improve existing pricing processes and implement structured, consistent estimating systems.
  • Establish best-practice procedures, cost libraries, templates, and databases.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants across mechanical, electrical, and BMS packages.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth handover of successful bids into delivery.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Significant experience as a Mechanical Estimator within an M&E contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, including HVAC, pipework, ductwork, plant, and BMS integration.
  • Comfortable working independently as the primary estimator.
  • Process‑driven mindset with the ability to implement and modernise estimating systems.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of how to build competitive, profitable tenders.
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with digital estimating tools / databases (or ability to introduce them).
  • Confident communicating with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tenders at varying stages.
