Overview

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Southampton Area (Hybrid) – Full‑Time. Join a forward‑thinking building services consultancy to lead design and delivery of innovative, sustainable mechanical building services across commercial, residential, education, and healthcare projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of building services systems – HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water.
• Produce, review, and approve calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
• Coordinate effectively with clients, project teams, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, promoting technical excellence and best practice.
• Ensure all designs comply with UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance, and sustainability standards.
• Represent the consultancy in client meetings, design reviews, and workshops.
• Contribute to business development activities and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (BEng, MEng, or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward chartership (IMechE, CIBSE, or similar).
• Minimum 5+ years of consultancy experience in mechanical building services design.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Hevacomp, IES, and other relevant design tools.
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Proven experience managing complex projects and guiding multidisciplinary design teams.
