About your team

This role is part of our Public Policy team, which operates within the broader Corporate Affairs function.

About your role

The Public Policy team is responsible for shaping and influencing policy discussions that impact our business and industry. We work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure our positions are clearly communicated and aligned with our corporate objectives. As part of Corporate Affairs, we collaborate with teams across the business – particularly corporate communications and compliance – to support the company's reputation and strategic priorities.

Responsibilities
  • In this varied role, you will work closely with the Director of Public Policy in implementing strategic and tactical objectives as they relate to FILs public policy agenda.
  • You will provide strategic advice and guidance around how FIL interacts with policymakers in UK and EU.
  • You will help manage Fidelity International's relationship with key external stakeholders to ensure a favourable public policy environment for the organisation.
  • Be responsible for driving engagement with business units to develop public affairs plans and policy positions that support commercial objectives.
  • Prepare draft papers and briefings on public policy for senior business leaders and external policymakers.
  • You will be responsible for responding to consultations and advising on policy developments in UK and Brussels.
  • You will need to build and maintain external relationships and represent FIL externally at events and committees.
  • Help manage relationships with industry bodies and agency to derive best value from any memberships.
Qualifications
  • Over 7 years experience working in Government Relations, Public Policy or Regulatory Affairs role within the private sector, Government, a regulator or other relevant public authority in the UK or EU.
  • Proven knowledge of institutional policy‑making processes in the EU and UK, including the stages of legislative and regulatory development, opportunities for engagement and key stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing evidence‑based advocacy positions and executing engagement strategies.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience of analysing political and geopolitical trends and developments for a business audience.
  • Ability to work independently and to take responsibility for progressing priorities and projects in a timely and efficient manner.
  • A team player with ability to quickly grasp and solve complex problems in a dynamic environment.
  • Educated to degree or equivalent level, with background in Politics, International Relations, Finance, Economics, Languages, etc.
