We are currently seeking an individual to join the team as Senior Manager, People Advisory.

We are currently working through an exciting transformation, moving from separate HR Advisory and Employee Relations Teams into one complete People Advisory service. This role will be a key component in our drive to simplify to amplify, leveraging data insights to aid our pivot to an aligned, proactive People Advisory service focused on providing an enhanced customer experience. We are seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Manager, People Advisory.

The role holder will partner with HR colleagues, people managers and legal, supporting People Advisory activity in one of our People Journey Hubs. They will help to navigate complex people issues and identify opportunities to proactively support customers to achieve strategic business goals and build high performing cultures. The role spans the whole of the UK (i.e. RFB and NRFB) across all businesses, functions and entities.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting and managing the most complex people issues in a manner consistent with HSBC values, in one of our customer Journey Hubs; Business Change, Health and Wellbeing, High Performance or Conduct & Concerns. Activities may include supporting formal hearing processes, litigation and mutual agreement/settlement negotiation, complex advice and guidance or a broad range of business change activities.
  • Producing high quality written documentation including outcome letters.
  • Working in partnership with Employment Legal to provide guidance to key stakeholders on employment related litigation, using your up-to-date knowledge of employment law, HR practices, compliance, and governance issues to assess, mitigate and navigate risks.
  • Coaching, training and development of HR colleagues and people managers on the effective of People Advisory matters through your own casework and ad hoc requests. Extending this to support of more junior members of the team and acting as an escalation point when required.
  • Assignment to complex People Advisory projects with the potential to act as a Subject Matter Expert for an allocated area of People Advisory knowledge/activity. Proactive activity to help support the organisation build a high performing culture and achieve strategic priorities.
Qualifications
  • Be an experienced People Advisor / Employee Relations specialist, with extensive experience of managing the highest risk, complex and sensitive of people issues, including but not limited to end to end disciplinary, grievance, capability and appeal processes also supporting litigation cases, independently or alongside Employment Legal, and experience of supporting / leading without prejudice discussions and drafting settlement agreements.
  • Ability to lead complex of People processes, producing detailed and high-quality written material and outcome letters. The ability to support, coach and develop more junior colleagues in this area.
  • Experience of providing risk-based advice and guidance in relation to complex redundancy, redeployment and TUPE programmes. M&A experience is desirable.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of HR procedures / policies and employment law and track record of confidently applying this in practice.
  • Experience of influencing senior stakeholders and building relationships in challenging situations, demonstrating strong and clear communication (written and verbal) skills and diplomacy.

Role can be based in London, Leeds, St Albans, Chester or Birmingham on a hybrid basis. Other locations may be considered.
