Social Work at UWE Bristol is part of the interdisciplinary School of Health and Social Wellbeing, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes approved by Social Work England and delivered across the South-West.

Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality teaching, an excellent student experience, and impactful research that connects academic understanding to contemporary social work practice.

Due to our continued growth, we’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join our Social Work academic team. You’ll contribute to pre‑registration (including Social Work Apprenticeship programmes) and CPD education based at our Glenside Campus, with some travel across the South West to support the Step‑Up to Social Work programme and other CPD contracts.

About you

You’re an engaging and innovative educator, qualified to Master’s level, with substantial and relevant professional experience in social care, social work, or closely related practice settings.

Bringing a strong commitment to teaching, learning and student support, you will inspire and engage students in their professional development, helping them build the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their career aspirations.

Drawing on your experience within social care or social work contexts, you will demonstrate a clear understanding of the contemporary challenges and opportunities facing the profession.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential, as you will work collaboratively with colleagues to create an inclusive, supportive and stimulating learning environment where both staff and students can thrive.

Responsibilities

This is predominantly a teaching focused post, involving:

  • Delivery and development of high-quality teaching and learning
  • Academic personal tutoring and practice education support
  • Module leadership and curriculum development
  • There may also be opportunities in the future, to contribute to research and knowledge exchange activities aligned with your expertise, however the priority in the short and medium term is for teaching and module leadership.
  • There may be an opportunity to programme lead or co‑programme lead one of our provisions or co‑programme lead, so expertise in this area is very welcomed.

This post is mostly based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre.

This is a full‑time, permanent post.

This role is campus based, with some opportunity to work from home, according to programme needs.

This post requires enhanced DBS clearance.
