A requirement has arisen to recruit an experienced Senior IT Technician for Milton Keynes Hospital.
As a Senior IT Technician, you will provide a high level of second line support, taking ownership of incidents and providing a high level of first time fix wherever possible or escalating accordingly. Also mentoring of existing staff, problem management, change management and looking at innovation and automation of systems, also project work. The role is predominantly user facing but also involves support via telephone, e-mail and the use of remote management software and includes out of hours on call duties.

To provide advanced quality technical support and problem-solving techniques, responsive and comprehensive desktop support service, incorporating support for all Trust staff as well as support and mentoring of IT support staff. All support activities are to be provided during the core operational hours of 08:00-17:00. The post holder will be required to provide support by visiting the user where necessary in order to provide timely resolution to logged incidents ensuring SLAs are met and typically exceeded. Other responsibilities include the management of the Trust’s IT assets, IT Security, Network administration, managing complex projects and ensuring the smooth operation of technical systems and processes.
Support operations:
The post holder will be expected to support a wide range of applications including but not limited to a Patient Administration System/Electronic Patient Record (PAS/EPR), Pathology System and a Radiology System through to an Office suite and internally developed applications. You’ll be expected to have, or develop, an understanding of these applications to a high level to provide excellent support for staff.
The post holder will provide expert support for desktop PCs, printers, laptops, mobile devices and other peripherals. You will diagnose and repair or replace faulty equipment to ensure Trust staff can work effectively.
The post holder will assist with the following activities: - Creation and ongoing maintenance of knowledge databases used within the group - Creation and ongoing maintenance of self-help documentation for Trust staff
