A local governmental organization is seeking a Senior Instructor to develop outdoor educational programmes at Tile Barn Outdoor Centre. Responsibilities include leading a team, delivering programs for various clients, and managing resources. Hampshire Outdoor Centres is seeking a Senior Instructor to assist in the delivery and development of Tile Barn Outdoor Centre in Brockenhurst (New Forest) near Southampton. This is a permanent role within Tile Barn Outdoor Centre’s management team. The successful candidate will have experience managing a small team, be responsible for the management of instructional staff, and will write and develop outdoor educational programmes for a range of clients with varying needs. Experience with budgets and developing new income opportunities is desirable.
Essential qualifications include the Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI), Lowland Leader award, and MIAS Level 2 award (or equivalent), plus experience in other activities such as archery, Bushcraft, High Ropes (ERCA Rescuer) and PPE inspections. You should be enthusiastic and able to communicate the value of outdoor learning to schools and other customer groups, with broad experience in the outdoor industry. A full induction and development plan will be provided for the successful candidate.

As this is a 24/7 service, you’ll be required to work a shift pattern to respond to the demands of the service. Your working pattern will include working a weekend a month and a variety of shifts including Friday late shifts, and on rare occasions a sleep-in shift as well as some bank holidays for which enhancements will be paid in line with the Hampshire County Council salary policy.
