Salary - Starting From £45,370 (subject to experience)

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

As a Senior Facility Specialist in Estates Compliance, you will play a vital part in supporting the Senior Asset Operations Manager in maintaining the Authority to Operate for the Site Safety Justifications for the Aldermaston and Burghfield sites.

Successful candidates will be responsible for collaborating with relevant stakeholders to maintain the Site Safety Justifications (SSJ) in accordance with the Nuclear Risk Management (NRM) programme, this includes:

Key responsibilities
  • Engaging with facilities to ensure changes from Facility Safety Justification (FSJs) do not challenge the ALARP position of the SSJ.
  • Collating information and preparing regular Annual Reports as required.
  • Ensuring operators/residents/business users work within Safe Operating Envelope (SOE)/Safe Operating Boundaries (SOB), as defined by the SSJ.
  • Ensuring configuration changes to allocated facilities are assessed for impact to the SSJ and required changes are incorporated at the most appropriate time.
  • Working with local facilities to ensure accuracy of Asset Portal Master Viewer pages and review local Asset Change Board (ACB) changes and overarching changes to assess any impact upon an SSJ. Ensure changes are tracked and monitored through to completion.
  • Providing intelligent customer oversight on changes to Security, Nuclear and EPR Baseline requirements (in compliance with the permits) to ensure alignment to the SSJ.

  • Understanding of Safety Documentation including SSJ/FSJ
  • Working in a highly regulated environment
  • Working to management standards and procedures
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate options and formulate effective process, system, and organisational solutions.
  • General management (business and people) to manage and resolve complex cross discipline, technical and organisational issues.
  • Prior experience of a large site with multiple facilities and supporting utilities / services and interactions between them.
  • Capable of maintaining a high degree of effectiveness in a multitask role, managing priorities and delivering to challenging timescales.
  • Decision making skills that have either a high degree of complexity or diversity.
  • Excellent communication, presentational and negotiation skills.
  • Able to readily adapt and respond quickly to changing situations and the changing needs of others.
  • Willingness to own the problem.
