Job summary

A leading construction firm is seeking a Senior Estimator to manage project costs and collaborate with preconstruction teams. This primarily remote position requires expertise in framework estimating and the ability to interpret technical drawings. The ideal candidate will have strong mathematical skills and experience in construction methods. Your responsibilities will include producing cost plans, managing design changes, and advising clients on affordability. The role may include occasional travel to the Exeter office.

Responsibilities

• Ensure project costs comply with scope, client requirements, and legislation.

• Advise the design team and client on affordability.
• Identify risks, opportunities, and value-adding solutions.
• Cost and track design changes through RIBA stages.
• Complete or manage detailed take-offs.
• Provide full cost-substantiation packs at handover.
• Coordinate with design leads to incorporate design fees into tender summaries.
• Assess the cost and impact of design changes.

Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Estimator (Remote) for a principal contractor based in Exeter. The role is primarily remote, but must be able to get into the office when required.

Salary : £75,000

Hours : 8 : 30–5 : 00 (flexible)

Location : Remote with occasional travel to Exeter

Responsibilities

• Ensure project costs comply with scope, client requirements, and legislation.
• Work with the preconstruction team to secure and convert tenders.
• Produce accurate, robust cost plans through all design stages to target price.
• Advise the design team and client on affordability.
• Identify risks, opportunities, and value‑adding solutions.
• Cost and track design changes through RIBA stages.
• Complete or manage detailed take‑offs (SMM7 / NRM2 / building quantities).
• Provide full cost‑substantiation packs at handover, including comparisons, BOQs, tender books, and quotations.
• Coordinate with design leads to incorporate design fees into tender summaries.
• Assess the cost and impact of design changes and alternative solutions.
