Job description

The Highway Safety team are responsible for ensuring that the 1930km road network is safe and suitable for all users to travel throughout Kirklees without being involved in a road traffic collision., To help achieve our ambition we are looking for a Senior Engineer with the following skills and experience to join the team.

  • Experience of designing road engineering schemes - desirable with some safety related experience
  • Can reply to Councillors, MPs, and residents' concerns regarding road safety on the network
  • Are able to provide professional and technical advice in road safety and highway engineering
  • Can analyse engineering problems and using your technical expertise and engineering judgment to produce solutions - especially when considering interventions to address areas with a high number of road traffic collisions.
  • Experience in or knowledge of road safety audits and / or willingness to learn to become one of the internal road safety auditors.
  • Undertake the relevant duty holder’s role under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, in particular, Designer, and help other to understand and undertake theirs.
