NSB Recruitment are partnering with a long-established, award-winning consultancy specialising in data-led energy management, technical engineering, sustainability and Net Zero advisory services. With over 20+ years’ experience across all sectors, they deliver measurable reductions in cost, energy consumption and carbon emissions through innovative, practical solutions.

They are seeking an experienced Senior Energy Consultant to support clients (along the M4 Corridor / London / Midlands) in optimising energy efficiency, decarbonisation pathways and sustainable building performance. This position suits a mechanical engineering professional with a strong background in building services, technical compliance and project delivery. You will take the lead on a variety of engineering and energy management projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide robust, insightful guidance that drives meaningful operational improvements.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships, gaining a clear understanding of their operational and energy management needs.
  • Carry out detailed building, energy and performance audits to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Provide ongoing account management and technical support.
  • Oversee contractor activity on behalf of clients.
  • Apply deep knowledge of energy systems and engineering principles to develop sustainable, cost-effective solutions.
  • Conduct site-based energy and engineering surveys across multiple UK locations.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of building services regulations, design requirements and compliance frameworks.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of technical and energy management projects.
  • Prepare project plans, budgets and delivery schedules.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including engineers, energy managers, and support functions, to ensure project success.
  • Mentor junior colleagues, encouraging continuous learning and skills development.
  • Provide accurate, timely financial reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with finance teams to ensure budget adherence and identify potential cost savings.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong mechanical engineering background with proven HVAC systems experience.
  • Solid understanding of building services, energy efficiency, decarbonisation and sustainable engineering practices.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports and documentation.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering M&E projects successfully.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, analytics) and proficiency in the MS Office suite.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence.
Desirable
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Energy Engineering or related field (BEng / BSc required; MSc / MEng desirable).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership (IMechE, CIBSE, Energy Institute, etc.).
  • ESOS Lead Assessor qualification.
  • Knowledge of heat pump technology.
  • Familiarity with BMS systems and their infrastructure.
