Senior Electronics Engineer – B7

Location: West Glasgow Ambulatory Care Hospital, Glasgow
Department: Clinical Physics & Bio Engineering – Medical Devices Unit (MDU)

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, development and prototype of medical electronic systems within a small multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the entire product lifecycle – from research and pre‑production development to testing and delivery of new or enhanced products.
  • Support and improve the electronics calibration service for medical test and diagnostic equipment under ISO 55001 QMS.
  • Collaborate with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, academia and industry on translational research projects.
Qualifications
  • MSc Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent (BEng/BSc/HND/HNC with MSc‑equivalent profile).
  • Chartered Engineer or membership of a relevant professional body desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with creative idea generation.
  • Expertise in electronic design software (circuit design, simulation, PCB layout) and surface‑mount soldering, SMT prototyping and debugging.
  • Background in hardware development, FPGA and embedded software plus calibration procedure development tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation skills and teamwork.
