Overview

?? Freelance Design Manager – 3-Year University Project

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our project team on a 3-year freelance contract for an exciting university development. You will lead and coordinate the design process from concept to completion, ensuring all drawings, specifications, and design solutions meet the project brief, budget, and programme.

Responsibilities

• Managing the design process across all project stages
• Coordinating architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless delivery
• Reviewing and approving design documents to meet technical and regulatory standards
• Overseeing compliance with planning, building regulations, and sustainability targets
• Acting as the key liaison between the client, design team, and project management
• Ensuring design risks are identified and managed effectively

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as a Design Manager in construction (education sector experience preferred)
• Strong knowledge of design standards, regulations, and quality requirements
• Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a freelance capacity
