Job description
Job Overview

From prototype to production for a range of defence projects.

This small team of highly accomplished engineers is working at the cutting‑edge of the defence industry, developing a whole new approach to defence systems based on adaptability. Their systems learn in response to emerging threats, able to change without needing to be returned to base or reprogrammed. They are currently developing anti‑drone and electronic warfare devices and believe their unique design philosophy is applicable to many areas.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will take ideas from prototype to production. This is a very hands‑on role working with colleagues in mechanical, electronics and software engineering. Your ability to quickly understand problems and iteratively develop solutions using CAD and an on‑site workshop is key. Often deployed on the battlefield, the products you design need to be durable, and easy to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take concepts from prototype to production.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and software teams.
  • Use CAD to iteratively develop solutions.
  • Design for durability and manufacturability for battlefield use.
Qualifications
  • Background in engineering with similar positions held previously.
  • Highly proficient with CAD software and comfortable in a workshop using additive manufacturing (3D printing) as well as standard machining tools.
  • Specialized in either mechanical or electronics engineering, or comfortable helping with either.
  • Academic degree in a STEM subject.
  • British or British dual national, resident in the UK for the past 5 years.

The team is small, motivated, and fully funded by the founders. The work is truly cutting‑edge, and you will have a significant impact on every aspect of product development. The company is located in picturesque surroundings in a historic market town south of Cambridge and has a well‑stocked workshop.
