Job summary

A recruitment agency is looking for an experienced Senior Damp and Mould Surveyor to support a local authority in the South West of England. This critical position involves conducting property inspections to identify damp and mould issues, managing cases, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. Candidates should have proven experience in social housing environments, strong diagnostic and report-writing skills, a full UK driving licence, and experience with HHSRS assessments. Autonomy is required, as well as collaboration with various stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Damp and Mould Surveyor or Building Surveyor within social housing or local authority environments.
  • Strong understanding of building pathology and damp remediation techniques.
  • Experience applying HHSRS assessments.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Awaab's Law and the Social Housing (Regulation) Act.
  • Excellent diagnostic, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out property inspections to identify and diagnose damp, mould, and condensation issues.
  • Assess hazards under the HHSRS framework and prioritise cases based on risk.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports, schedules of work, and technical specifications.
  • Specify and oversee remedial works such as ventilation upgrades, fabric repairs, and mould treatment.
  • Manage cases from initial inspection through to post‑completion sign‑off.
  • Provide residents with practical advice to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with housing teams, contractors, and stakeholders for effective case management.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance reporting.
