Job Description

The Southern Real Estate team advises on a broad spectrum of commercial property work, with particular strength across development, strategic land, investment, portfolio management, landlord and tenant matters and real estate finance. Operating across key Southern offices including Brighton, Gatwick, London and Chichester, the team forms part of one of the largest real estate groups in the UK, combining deep national resource with strong local market expertise.

Led by its National Head, the team is recognised for its commercially focused approach, handling complex transactional work and advising investors, developers, financial institutions, landowners and occupiers on all stages of the property lifecycle. Clients consistently commend the team for its pragmatic advice, responsiveness and ability to drive projects forward efficiently.

As a Senior Associate, you will play a central leadership role within the team and will be responsible for:

  • Managing and leading a varied portfolio of transactions including acquisitions, disposals, development schemes, funding arrangements, landlord and tenant matters and major commercial deals
  • Acting as the lead lawyer on client matters, delivering high quality work, strong commercial insight and excellent project management
  • Contributing to business development, nurturing client relationships, identifying opportunities and supporting wider growth initiatives
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, supporting their technical development and quality of delivery
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues across planning, construction, corporate, finance, private client and disputes to deliver integrated, full service advice on complex matters
The Successful Applicant
  • Ideally 6 to 10 years PQE
  • Strong technical experience within commercial property, particularly across development and strategic land
  • Confident at managing complex, multi-matter transactions with excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client and referrer relationships
  • A collaborative team player with leadership ability and a proactive approach to supervision and mentoring
  • A commercial mindset and appetite for contributing to business development and wider team growth
