Job description
Job Description

Ready to lead engineering excellence at one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects? Want to shape the future of nuclear energy and help Britain achieve net zero? At EDF, Success is Personal – and with us, your career journey is yours to shape.

The Opportunity

As Senior Commercial Manager, you’ll take ownership of the commercial success of each contract assigned to you. From the very start, you’ll play a key role in supporting the procurement process during contract creation, ensuring smooth pre‑award activities that lead to successful contract awards. Once contracts move into execution, you’ll be the commercial lead—driving performance, managing risks, and steering contracts to successful completion. Your focus will be on maximising operational and financial outcomes while safeguarding against commercial risks, all to support the safe and cost‑effective delivery of the NNB programme and wider business objectives.

You’ll join us on a salary from £75,000 per annum. This is a hybrid role based at #SateliteDeliveryCentre, with flexibility to work from home—though you’ll be expected in the office at least three days a week.

This is your chance to work at the heart of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes. You’ll collaborate with procurement, delivery and project teams, monitor contract performance using KPIs, and resolve challenges pragmatically to keep the programme moving forward.

Who You Are
  • Proven expertise in commercial and contract management, with a track record of successful outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value.
  • Solid understanding of contract performance, risk management, change/claim processes, and common Forms of Contract in the power construction industry.
  • Keen eye for detail, with experience using Excel and commercial management systems to analyse costs, forecasts, and contractors’ submissions.
  • Ability to professionally challenge progress metrics and contractors’ programmes while maintaining strong relationships and collaborating with delivery teams to achieve best value.
  • Degree qualified in quantity surveying/commercial management (or similar) and chartered or working towards chartership (RICS or equivalent).

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting the procurement process during contract creation, including defining requirements, reviewing scope and value, and contributing to ITT preparation, evaluation and negotiation.
  • Ensuring technical and commercial alignment of specifications with contract terms, and engaging with key stakeholders across procurement, delivery, finance and legal functions.
  • Leading the commercial management of contracts post‑award, administering scope, schedules, pricing, payments, variations, disputes, claims and supplier relationships in line with NNB procedures.
  • Driving progress and cost management through reporting, reviews and risk mitigation, while maintaining accurate commercial files and correspondence.
  • Leading contract closure, including commercial completion, performance assessment and capturing lessons learnt for continuous improvement.
Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a salary from £75,000, potential for an annual bonus, and a market‑leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.
