Team Profile

The Commercial Team in our Amersham office consists of 6 – 7 professionals working collaboratively within the wider Commercial Division. Each Account Handler partners closely with 1–2 dedicated Account Executives, providing day-to-day support across their portfolio of commercial clients.

The team is responsible for managing client renewals, supporting new business activity, and ensuring all internal processes and procedures are followed to a high standard.

Our Commercial Team brings together Account Handlers and Account Executives with a broad range of technical expertise across multiple classes of business. The environment is friendly, supportive, and proactive, with a strong focus on teamwork, client service, and continuous knowledge sharing.

Position Profile

As a Senior Account Handler, you will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding client service and managing complex insurance portfolios. Working alongside Account Executives, you will ensure the retention and growth of client relationships while supporting the overall team objectives. This role involves offering expert advice, proactively managing renewals, and providing bespoke insurance solutions that meet clients' needs. A strong emphasis is placed on compliance, professionalism, and maintaining the highest service standards.

Client Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering tailored insurance solutions.
  • Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance clients, ensuring their requirements are met efficiently and accurately.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, providing prompt and professional responses.
Renewals and Policy Management
  • Oversee the entire renewal process, negotiating terms with insurers to secure optimal outcomes for clients.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely administration of insurance policies, endorsements, and cancellations.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance client coverage and protection.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure strict adherence to FCA regulations, Consumer Duty obligations, and company compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Conduct quality checks on documentation and processes to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Provide guidance to team members on regulatory standards and best practices.
Collaboration and Leadership
  • Work closely with Account Executives to deliver seamless client service and achieve team objectives.
  • Support and mentor junior Account Handlers, sharing expertise to aid their development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to address client needs and improve workflows.
Market and Industry Engagement
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with insurers and other key stakeholders to negotiate favourable terms for clients.

  • Established experience in a senior account handling role within the insurance sector or specialism.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance products, markets, and underwriting processes.
  • Proficiency in using insurance platforms and client management systems.
  • Strong understanding of compliance responsibilities, including FCA regulations, Consumer Duty obligations, and other relevant standards.
  • Proven track record of ensuring all client and policy documentation adheres to regulatory and company compliance requirements.
Desirable
  • CII or ACII qualification or a willingness to work towards it with business support.
  • Experience using Acturis or similar systems to manage insurance portfolios and streamline operations.
