Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the pharmacy clinical team for 23 months. The successful candidate will lead initiatives to advance our clinical pharmacy services with support from the lead pharmacist, delivering impact on patient care within the trust.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead, deliver, develop and evaluate general clinical pharmacy services in line with objectives agreed between the post holder, Chief Pharmacist and Clinical Services Manager to ensure safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of medicines.
  • Be a valued member of the clinical pharmacy team, work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide a highly specialist pharmaceutical service to patients on acute wards.
  • Provide a consistently high pharmaceutical service for patients across multiple areas within the acute hospital as needed.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the department and wider teams to ensure optimal medicines usage and value for money.
  • Develop procedures, policies and guidelines to promote the safe, efficient and cost-effective use of medicines within the Trust; participate in clinical audit.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary ward-based education and training of junior doctors, pharmacists and nursing staff.
  • Provide daily ward visits to acute wards, inputting on appropriate guidelines and attending MDT ward rounds.
  • Provide regular support to the dispensary.
