A leading healthcare organization in the UK is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow for their expanding TAVI Fellowship programme. This role includes one-on-one training in advanced techniques and procedures related to cardiac care, allowing participation in approximately 250 TAVI procedures annually. Candidates must have an MBBS or equivalent and MRCP qualifications, along with relevant experience in cardiology. The position offers a salary of £44,170 per year, emphasizing the importance of patient care and involvement in all stages of TAVI procedures.
The closing date is 26 December 2025
Our Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC) are pleased to offer the opportunity to join their expanding TAVI Fellowship programme which will be tailored to your pre‑existing skill set providing you with one‑on‑one training including ultrasound‑guided and micro puncture techniques for safe femoral vascular access and to become proficient in aortic valve crossing, and the subsequent performance and interpretation of invasive hemodynamics pre‑TAVI deployment.
Our TAVI service at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre is growing and in line with planned expansion, we conservatively estimate you will have the opportunity to perform approx. 250 TAVI procedures within a 12‑month period meaning you will be fully immersed in all aspects of our rapidly expanding TAVI programme including clinical interaction with patients at all stages of the TAVI patient pathway and being an integral part of the patient's care during their hospital admission.
As part of your training, you will develop understanding of when pre‑dilatation of the aortic valve using balloon aortic valvuloplasty is required, develop the skills necessary to performing this, become confident in the safe insertion of the large‑bore delivery sheaths required for TAVI as we will train you in all aspects of valve insertion and preparation as required, including intra‑vascular lithotripsy enabled trans femoral TAVI in high vascular risk patients.
Our Fellow will see patients, obtain detailed clinical histories, order and interpret appropriate clinical investigations, develop an in‑depth understanding of the role of effective Valve Team working by their active involvement in the weekly TAVI MDT meeting at the CTC including all aspects of periprocedural patient care, in addition to the hands‑on operating role and all cases will be reviewed by the consultant body to ensure training and maintenance of the highest level of patient care.
It is our strong belief that as our Fellow you must be trained in all aspects of the TAVI patient pathway (and not just the procedural elements) if they are to develop into a fully independent operator capable of leading/integrating into a TAVI service.
Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well‑being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
