Job description
Overview

A fixed term position for a GMC registered medical practitioner in the Gynaecology Directorate at the John Radcliffe Hospital has arisen. It is aimed at those with an interest in Urogynaecology with an opportunity to develop vaginal and laparoscopic urogynaecology skills in a tertiary setting.

Responsibilities
  • Three days per week in Urogynaecology (clinics, theatres, MDT, outpatient clinic, diagnostics)
  • Two days part of general O+G rota providing both Gynaecology and Obstetric services
  • Out of hours on call covering labour ward and gynaecological emergency services (senior tier of 3‑tier rota)
  • Research opportunities actively encouraged

Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration
  • Primary medical qualification MBBS/MBChB or equivalent
  • MRCOG full registration (parts 1, 2 & 3) or equivalent
Desirable
  • Higher degree (MD, MSc) or ATSM(s)
  • ATSM in Urogynaecology and Vaginal surgery
  • UK driving licence
Experience
  • Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology at least 5 years at specialist level
  • Experience at ST6/ST7 level or equivalent
Teaching, Training and Research
  • Experience supervising junior staff and contributing to teaching and training of O&G trainees
  • Peer reviewed publications
  • Experience in obstetric emergency training (e.g., MOET or PROMPT)
Interest and Extra Skill
  • Commitment to develop an appropriate special interest
  • Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork
Organisational and Management Experience
  • Effective administrative and time management skills
  • Evidence of leadership of service improvement project, leadership within an acute service, implementing change within the clinical setting

  • Good spoken and written English, highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, supportively tolerant, caring attitude to patients

  • Willingness to work flexibly across different sites within the Trust and other Trusts if agreed (driving licence desirable)
  • Willingness to work on the on-call rota
