Senior Clinical Fellow posts in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation

Applications are invited for 2 senior clinical fellow posts in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation working within the Royal Free Hospital Liver unit. The Royal Free provides secondary and tertiary Hepatology services, including liver transplantation, management of complex portal hypertension and management of complex pancreatic and biliary diseases.

Main duties of the job

Posts 1 and 2: Senior Clinical Fellow in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation, fixed term 1 year beginning 28th August 2023

The appointees will participate in the full range of daytime activities, to include general hepatology and specialist outpatients, endoscopy lists, contribution to care of Hepatology and Liver Transplant inpatients, research, audit, teaching and quality improvement projects. The appointees will be able to attend weekly MDTs scheduled in transplantation, viral hepatology and hepatobiliary malignancies, radiology and pathology meetings.

The posts will be most suited to those reaching the end of their specialist training in gastroenterology/hepatology wishing to gain more in-depth experience. As well as liver transplantation, there is opportunity to pursue a sub-specialist interest, for example, in acute-on-chronic liver failure, viral hepatitis, complex portal hypertension, autoimmune liver diseases, hepatocellular carcinoma or non-invasive fibrosis assessment. Participation in research and teaching is encouraged. An individualised programme of clinical sessions, research, audit and teaching will be agreed with the successful candidates to meet subspecialist interest and training needs. The post includes a contribution to the out-of-hours rota.
