Job description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine

There is an excellent opportunity for an Emergency Medicine doctor to advance their career as a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST4+) with the acquisition of a postgraduate qualification.

Location

Post‑holders will be based at the West Middlesex University Emergency Department, with additional clinical activity at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and associated clinics across London and the South‑East.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise FY2 doctors under the supervision of Consultants.
  • Provide hands‑on clinical care alongside middle grade doctors.
  • Run the Emergency Department during out‑of‑hours shifts.
  • Take on middle grade roles such as Lead Middle Grade, Resus Lead and Rapid Assessment Team.
  • Develop simulation, teaching and medical educational skills (approximately 0.6 WTE).
  • Work within the new 24‑hour shift pattern, 1:3 weekends, compliant with the New Deal.
Qualifications
  • Post‑graduate qualification (e.g., FRCP or equivalent) or expected to obtain during the appointment.
  • Current certificates in ATLS and ALS (must be held or obtained during the role).
  • GMC registration and/or approval for an out‑of‑programme post (refer to GMC website for details).
Shift Pattern & Working Hours

The rota provides full 24‑hour coverage of the Emergency Department, with a 1:3 weekend rotation. The post is 0.6 WTE and may be subject to changes to reflect new working practice regulations.
